About Bari Rhys
Bari Rhys is an artist and photographer who works in a variety of styles and mediums. Growing up on a farm raising alpacas, Rhys is often drawn to the beauty in nature and animals. Over the past decade her work has included commissioned animal pastel portraiture, logo and ad design, both commercial and fine art photography, pen and ink drawings, and acrylic painting. While the media and styles cover a broad range, a love of natural, dynamic light, and contrasts frequently influence her work in all areas.
In 2017 a wrist injury made gripping painful, and limited her ability to work with a brush or pen. Using this as an opportunity for creative exploration, Rhys picked up a tube of acrylic and started painting with her fingers, adding a more open, impressionistic style to her repertoire. Though initially challenging, She has discovered the mental shift required by the change in technique has expanded her perspective and approach, allowing her to work more freely.
While a large part of her current focus involves pursuing different discoveries and directions with this new technique, Rhys continues to work in many styles and media, always open to finding new forms of expression and sources of inspiration.
